Actual Title: Driver for Canon BJC-85 Inkjet Printer with Win7I am trying to install a Canon BJC85 printer onto a Samsung NB30 netbook running Win7 (Home version, I think). I have installed all the windows upddates as of today's date.I am going through the 'Add a printer' route in the Control Panel. The BJC85 is not on the list of available printers, but when I click on the Windows update button to get the full list of printers I get a message saying: Could not connect to windows update, please try later. I have been trying this for about 24 hours and keep getting the same message. Is there any other way I can get the driver Ineed?Bill. The printer is connected by a USB cable and I have made no changes to it - it hasn;t been used in a couple of years.I ran the FIXIT program, it reported no problems but the printer is still not working.
I get a 'Printer not responding' status message.I tried installing the printer as per the video. When i get to the screen with the list of manufacturers and printers, the BJC85 is not listed so I hit the Windows Update button. After a couple of minutes I get a message reading 'Windows is undable toget a list of drivers from Windows Update. Please try again later.' The PC was connected to the internet by braodband wifi.I have been getting this message for 48 hours.I don't have the installation disk (the printer was bought used) and the only things I can download from the internet are old installation programs that won't run under Win7.Please could you either tell how to get the Windows Update to work to give the list of drivers, or where to download the specific BJC85 driver so that I can install that via the 'have Disk' option in the Add a Printer routine.ThanksBill S. Open Task Manager (Right click on the task bar)2.Select the Sevices Tab and then select the Services Button (Bottom Right)3.
Under Name find 'Windows Update'4. Right click 'Windows Update' and select Stop. leave the window open5. Open Windows Exploper and go to to C:Windows6. Delete the Folder 'SoftwareDistribution'7. Return to Services, Right click 'Windows Update' and select Start'Windows Update' button should work.Unfortunately you may need to do this again if another printer install is required.
Microsoft Community Contributor (MCC) 2011. I had this problem for a long time not being able to use my BJC-85 on a Dell Latitude laptop with Win7 using the USB connection on the BJC-85.Using the WinXP drivers and installing them in compatibilty mode for Win7 did not work, nor any of the other solutions in this forum. What finally got it working was using a USB Printer Cable which goes from USB on the laptop to LTP connector on the printer. My cable is a model LU 120 (no brand name).Using the latest drivers from Microsoft I finally got the printer working but only on one of my 3 of my USB ports!
